Basketball game in Rot Fai Park

It used to be an upscale golf course, but now it’s a great public park: Rot Fai. It’s located north of Chatuchak weekend market. Simply take BTS Skytrain to it’s terminal station at Mo Chit and from there on a motorcyle taxi for another 40 baht of transportation fees. Entrance to Rot Fai park is free. Very crowded on weekend with local Thai families. Bicycles are for rent, lots of green with a butterfly park, baskatball and running tracks. Outside the entrance there is a large Thai foodcourt with cheap and delicious food from Issaan and other Thai provinces. Great place to take photos of your girlfriend and boyfriend as many trees provide shades with natural light for cute portraits that are so popular with Asian teens and Thai cuties.

While Bangkok hospitals require a patients ID and are required to report HIV infections, there are ways to get tested anonymously. The Red Cross Bangkok provides a STD testing clinic where patients are assigned identification tags rather than having their names and address taken. HIV tests are available from 80 baht upwards. It is a much cheaper alternative to hospitals that charge up to 3800 Thai Baht for testing. The clinic also provides tests for Hepatitis, Syphilis and CD4 viral load.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage: Traditional Thai massage has been practiced in Thailand for centuries and is very different from the usual “soft” or rubbing or massage style of some European countries. It is believed that the technique of traditional Thai massage was developed by monks to achieve a balance between the mind and body during extended periods of motionless meditation. Thai massage aims to encourage the flow of energy or “chi”, through the body. When the chi doesn’t flow, a “blockage” occurs, which results in illness. Following pressure points similar to acupuncture, a Thai massage releases these “blockages.” It sounds simple but really effective. There are lot’s of Thai Massage parlors around Sukhumvit Road that are listed on a Bangkok Massage List on Asoke Website. Traditional Thai Massage at Wat Pho: If you are seeking to try the original of Thai massage, just head to Wat Pho (The Temple of the Reclining Buddha), which offers Thai massage in its most traditional form, taken from the original inscriptions in stone commissioned by King Rama III, great-grandfather of the present king. And if you are interested in learning the techniques of traditional Thai massage, the Wat Pho massage school offers a 10-day course at the cost of around 6,000 Baht. Just contact directly the school located in Wat Pho Temple compound.
